Dr Leslie Tay is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
He specialises in interventional cardiology with expertise in managing patients with complex coronary artery disease including chronic total occlusion, left main and bifurcation angioplasty (stenting). He uses the latest interventional techniques including shockwave therapy, robotic-assisted angioplasty and rotational atherectomy. He also has special interests in sports cardiology and cardiovascular CT imaging.
He was a consultant interventional cardiologist at Changi General Hospital and a visiting consultant at the National Heart Centre Singapore.
Dr Tay graduated from the UK and is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Glasgow, the Academy of Medicine and the Asian Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology. He was awarded a scholarship to train in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular CT at MonashHeart in Australia. He gained extensive experience in treating patients using the latest in adjunctive interventional techniques. He also attained level 2 accreditation in cardiovascular CT by the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, USA.
Being involved in cardiovascular research, Dr Tay is a National Steering Committee member and principal investigator in numerous clinical trials. He is widely published in medical journals and is regularly invited as faculty to give lectures at international conferences.
Dr Tay is also a core faculty member in the SingHealth cardiology senior residency programme and a senior clinical lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
He has a keen interest in medical ethics and has co-authored a book entitled “Medico-Legal and Ethical Issues in Cardiology and General Medicine”. Dr Tay is a teaching faculty member of the Singapore Medical Association Centre for Ethics and Professionalism and is appointed by the Ministry of Health as a member of the national transplant ethics committee.
