Dr Pauleon Tan is a general surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
His subspecialty is in colorectal surgery. He is experienced in minimally invasive surgery and endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy), including advanced endoscopic resections such as endoscopic submucosal dissection.
Prior to joining private practice, he was a surgeon at various hospitals including Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH), Singapore General Hospital, and Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Dr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He subsequently completed his specialist training and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, UK. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan Award and furthered his advanced colorectal surgical training at Saitama Medical University International Medical Center in Japan.
He was the clinical director of the colorectal cancer screening programme in KTPH and is currently a committee member of the Singapore Cancer Society’s colorectal cancer awareness campaign. Dr Tan was also the surgical department lead of the nutrition workgroup at KTPH. He has been practising medicine for more than 15 years.
Besides his clinical work, he was a core faculty member in the National Healthcare Group’s general surgery residency programme where he trained junior surgeons. He was also active in teaching medical students as a clinical teacher and adjunct lecturer at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and as a clinical lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS.
Dr Tan is a recipient of several Yishun Health Service Champion Awards.
