Dr Christopher Goh is a ear, nose, throat (ENT) surgeon with about 20 years experience in the field. He provides specialised care for patients with nose and throat conditions through his advance surgical techniques. He currently practices at his clinic in Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. He is also a Visiting Consultant to the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and National Cancer Centre.
Upon his graduation from the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (MBBS, 1985), Dr Goh obtained his postgraduate qualifications in Otolaryngology (FRCS Glasgow and Edinburgh, 1991). His training in Otolaryngology included a one-year stint at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland under the Health Manpower Development Programme Award. There, he was mentored by Professor Arnold Maran, a leading ENT-Head & Neck Surgeon in the United Kingdom. When he returned to Singapore, he completed his Advanced Specialist Training in Ear, Nose & Throat Surgery and was admitted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
In 1995, through the SGH Scholarship, Dr Goh went on to do a year-long fellowship in Head & Neck Surgery in Toronto, Canada. Under the mentorship of Professor Patrick Gullane, a world renowned ENT-Head & Neck Surgeon, Dr Goh successfully completed his training and was awarded the American Head & Neck Society Joint Council Certification for Advanced Training in Head & Neck Oncology.
Prior to his move to private practice, Dr Goh was the Head of Department and Senior Consultant of Otolaryngology at SGH. He remains a Visiting Consultant to the Hospital as well as to the National Cancer Centre Singapore.
Teaching and moulding future generations of doctors is an aspect of medicine that Dr Goh has a passion for. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. He was Chief Examiner of the Otolaryngology Exit Examinations from 2007 to 2012 and has been invited as an external examiner for several overseas examinations. Dr Goh has also previously served as the Chairman of the Specialist Training Committee in Otolaryngology and Chairman of the Residency Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Health which oversees the training of residents in Singapore.
Apart from his teaching commitments, Dr Goh is actively involved in the otolaryngology arena. He is currently the Treasurer of the ASEAN Federation of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. He served as President of the Society of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery Singapore from 2007 to 2009 and is a founding member of the Asian Society of Head & Neck Oncology.
Committed to providing the best for patients, Dr Goh has helped train surgeons through several medical missions to countries like Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos and Bangladesh, so that they can continue to serve their community. He is also presently the Chief Commissioner of St John’s Ambulance Brigade whose goal is to provide service to mankind through the promotion of first aid skills and CPR.
