Dr Dede Selamat Sutedja is a gastroenterologist practising at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
His clinical expertise involves the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal, liver and bile duct conditions. In particular, he subspecialises in the management of liver diseases, liver transplantation and endoscopic procedures, which is the diagnostic and therapeutic imaging of internal organs.
Conditions he treats include liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, colorectal cancer, tumours in the gastrointestinal tract, indigestion, inflammatory bowel disease, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and hepatitis B and C, among others.
Dr Dede completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the National University of Singapore in 1989 and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, UK in 1993. He then became a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 1999 and a fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of Glasgow, UK in 2004.
Between 1999 and 2001, Dr Dede was awarded 2 scholarships by the Ministry of Health, Singapore. Under the first scholarship, he underwent specialist training in hepatology (liver disease management) and liver transplantation at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, UK. Subsequently, he pursued advanced training in endoscopic procedures at the Amsterdam Medical Centre in the Netherlands in 2001.
Dr Dede served as a specialist in internal medicine, gastroenterology and hepatology for about 20 years in Singapore's restructured hospitals. Appointments included being a senior consultant at the National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore.
Dr Dede has authored various local and overseas medical journals, particularly on the treatment of liver diseases. He has also been actively delivering public talks in this field.
