Dr Chua Wei Han is an ophthalmologist practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
His clinical expertise includes cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, implantable contact lens surgery, intravitreal injection (IVI), LASIK eye surgery, refractive surgery to correct myopia, and pterygium surgery to remove abnormal tissue from the cornea.
He is also experienced in treating astigmatism, myopia, paediatric eye disorders, presbyopia, refractive errors and retinal disorders.
Dr Chua is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, and the Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
He is currently a visiting consultant at the Singapore National Eye Centre, an adjunct research scientist at the Singapore Eye Research Institute, and a clinical teacher at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
In 2003, he received an outstanding award in clinical ophthalmology at the first SERI-ARVO Meeting on Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
His other accolades include the Travel Fellowship award by the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology in 2011, the Ciba-Geigy prize for the highest overall ability and capacity in Bachelor of Medicine in 1996, the Singapore Graduating Class prize for the best undergraduate record at the University of Newcastle, Australia in 1996, and the McGraw-Hill prize in medicine for the highest overall ability and capacity in Bachelor of Medical Science in 1994.
