Dr Chua Sze Ming is a psychiatrist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
She has special interests in mood and anxiety disorders, psychosomatic and geriatric psychiatry.
She served as a psychiatrist at the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) University Health Centre.
Dr Chua graduated from NUS and obtained her master’s degree there.
She trained at general hospitals and the Institute of Mental Health (IMH). Her experience ranges from community outreach and inpatient teams for seniors in Singapore, adult outpatient clinics, telemedicine clinics to inpatient settings in institutions and long-term residential care facilities. She completed her fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
She believes in holistic care tailored to an individual’s needs, and prefers a psychotherapy-focused approach in tandem with psychiatric medications when necessary.
Dr Chua was the deputy chairperson of the pharmacy and therapeutics committee at IMH. She was also a former examiner and supervisor for the national collaborative prescribing programme. She was a volunteer psychiatrist for St Joseph’s Home’s residents.
