Dr Chin Pak Lin is an orthopaedic surgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. He specialises in hip and knee surgery, which ranges from joint preservation to major reconstruction.
In particular, Dr Chin's clinical interests include complex hip and knee joint replacement surgery that require computer-aided techniques and robotic surgery. He was in fact a pioneer of these latest techniques in Singapore.
Dr Chin completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1998. He then obtained both a membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK and his Master of Medicine in orthopaedic surgery at NUS in 2003. He subsequently became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK in orthopaedic surgery in 2007.
In 2008, Dr Chin received the Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) scholarship from the Ministry of Health, Singapore to pursue advanced training in joint replacement at the Manchester Royal Infirmary in the United Kingdom.
Dr Chin was formerly a consultant at the adult reconstructive service in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH). He was also instrumental in setting up the bone bank at SGH.
Aside from clinical work, Dr Chin also served as an adjunct assistant professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School. He is currently a senior clinical tutor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS.
Dr Chin frequently conducts courses and medical exchange programmes in the region. He also volunteers at the Ang Mo Kio Community Hospital and in the Singapore International Foundation (SIF) specialist project in Cambodia.
