Dr Cheng Tai Kin is a graduate of the National University of Singapore. He is also a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (UK), a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine (Singapore) and a Fellow of the College of Paediatrics and Child Health (Singapore). Trained in Paediatrics (the care of children) and specialising in Neonatology (the care of newborn infants), Dr Cheng's interest is in the care of critically ill babies, especially those born premature and needing intensive care.
In April 2007, he transported a premature infant born more than 2 months early and weighing only 900g from Hanoi to Singapore. This baby was in Singapore for 4 months before successfully returning to Vietnam in August 2007. In August 2010, Dr Cheng transported a set of premature twins, also born two months early to Singapore. They were successfully nursed back to health, and returned to Vietnam in December 2010.
Apart from Vietnam, he has also performed air and land transfers of sick babies and children to and from places like Malaysia, Indonesia, China and Australia.
