Dr Yong Thon Hon

Dr Yong Thon Hon is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.

His subspecialty is interventional cardiology. He treats various heart conditions including coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart diseases and heart arrhythmia.

Prior to private practice, Dr Yong was the director of the coronary care unit at Changi General Hospital, as well as a visiting consultant at the National Heart Centre Singapore.

He graduated from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and underwent foundation year doctor training in Glasgow. He obtained the membership of the Royal College of Physicians, UK and subsequently completed advanced cardiology specialist training in Singapore. He later pursued his interventional cardiology fellowship training at Imperial College London where he obtained his expertise in complex coronary intervention and participated in various coronary physiology research studies. He has been practising medicine for more than 15 years and has performed more than 1,000 coronary angioplasty procedures.

Dr Yong was a clinical assistant professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. He also served as a physician faculty member of cardiology in the advanced internal medicine senior residency programme.

He is a recipient of the Singapore Health Quality Service Award.
